When you choose Binder, you're trusting us with some of the most personal records your family will ever create — your children's lessons, narrations, reading lists, attendance, photos, portfolios, and the small daily moments that add up to a childhood. That's not a responsibility we take lightly.
We built Binder because homeschooling families deserve software that is genuinely on their side. Not a product that monetizes attention. Not a platform that mines your family for training data. A quiet, dependable tool that shows up every day, keeps your records safe, and stays out of your way.
Your Data Is Always Yours
This is the promise at the center of Binder: the data you put into Binder belongs to you. Not to us. Not to a parent company. Not to an advertiser or data broker. You.
Concretely, that means:
- You can export your full record — lessons, narrations, attendance, portfolios, files — at any time, in open formats you can actually read and use.
- You can delete your account whenever you want. When you do, we permanently remove your data within 30 days. No dark patterns, no hoops, no hostage‑taking.
- You are never locked in. If Binder ever stops being right for your family, you leave with everything you brought.
- We will never sell your data, share it with advertisers, or hand it to data brokers — not now, not ever.
How We Care for Your Data
Stewardship is a day‑to‑day practice, not a slogan. Here is how we actually protect your family's information:
- Encrypted in transit and at rest. Every connection to Binder uses TLS, and your records are encrypted on disk.
- Least‑privilege access. Only a small number of essential staff can access production systems, and access is logged.
- No ad tech, no trackers. We don't run third‑party advertising pixels or sell analytics about your family to anyone.
- Regular backups. Your records are backed up so a bad day at our end never becomes a bad day at yours.
- Children's information is treated with extra care. Details about your kids exist to serve your family's homeschool — never to profile them.
AI, On Your Terms
Binder's AI features are optional. When you choose to use them, only the content relevant to that request is sent to our AI provider to generate a response. We do not use your content to train AI models, and you can turn AI features off at any time in your account settings.
Transparency
If something material changes in how we handle your data, we'll tell you — plainly, in normal language, before the change takes effect. If we ever receive a legal request for your records, we'll push back where we can and notify you whenever we are permitted to do so.
